The Helicopter
Hunter Helicopter Charters’ (HHC) aircraft,
the new Bell 407, ensures clients a smooth and comfortable ride,
every time. It is the only aircraft in the Hunter Region to offer
six passenger capacity.
Built in Canada by Bell Helicopter, the aircraft has a top speed
of 140 knots or 265km/hr, guaranteeing a fast and efficient ride.
The Bell 407’s in-flight communication system is second to
none. Headsets are provided for each passenger so you can communicate
with others via the voice-activated intercom system; the built-in
confidentiality feature isolates you and your colleague’s discussions
from the pilot. Make that important call back to the office with the
aircraft’s CDMA phone.
With a maximum gross weight of 5250lb (2286kg), the Bell 407 also
has a compartment at the rear for extra cargo.
The Bell 407 can take off and land at unprepared landing sites -
a beach, paddock, hill top, remote location or industrial site. The
aircraft can take you almost anywhere you need to go.
It is fitted with an air conditioning system, a bleed air heater
and large windows for unparalleled visibility.
Other features of the Bell 407 include:
- Rolls Royce 250 C47B turbo-shaft (830shp) engine.
- Main and tail rotor blades coated with conductive paint to protect
against lightening strike and static discharge.
- Maximum operating altitude of 20,000 feet and maximum altitude
for take off, landing and in ground effect manoeuvres of 11,000
feet. (It should be noted, however, that in Australia it is not
possible to fly above 10,000 without supplemental oxygen for the
Pilot).
- Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC) to provide additional
reliability during engine starts, improved fuel control during flight
and continuous in-flight systems monitoring.
- American design that is built to meet the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) - part of the US Department
of Transportation - requirements
for ‘crashworthiness’. These requirements exceed those
required in Australia.
- Two IFR capable GPS systems, two VHF aviation radios and two navigation
radios and one transponder for radar identification.
- Skywatch SKY497 Traffic Advisory System - Detects and displays location of all aircraft within 12Nm radius of the 407. Once within 0.5Nm radius and audibal warning is given.
- Four bladed soft-in-plane, flex beam type hub
main rotor system. The main rotor blades are asymmetrical for optimum
rotor blade efficiency.
- The Rural Fire Service requires certain types of radios and the Bell 470 is equipped with the necessary equipment. These radios include the GRN, Tait radio, UHF or CB and radio. The radios can be used by passengers sitting in the front or rear passenger seats. These radios are over and above the standard radios normally fitted to aircraft.
- Radar altimeter for height above ground
